Description
n our western culture, we are conditioned to prioritize rationality and intellect. This conditioning leads to us becoming distant from our embodied experiences, making it difficult to reconnect with the wisdom of our bodies.
Embodiment practices of various traditions throughout history have arisen to bring us back into our bodies. Qigong (pronounced “chi gong”) and Tai Chi are ancient Chinese embodiment traditions, which offer coordinated systems of practices incorporating gentle movement and breathing to benefit our health, vitality, and well being.
Through guided practice, you will learn exercises that you can take with you in your everyday life to release stagnant and stuck Qi (pronounced “chi” - (flowing energy/vital life force) so it can circulate more freely in the body. As your energy shifts, the physical body feels better, the mind becomes more clear and our emotions are more stable. We are better able to show up in life as our best selves.
No prior experience is necessary, and participants are welcome to adapt movements in a way that is accessible to them. You may sit or stand to complete the practices.
Intention of the Hive
When you join a Hive experience, you're invited into our intention to create a group experience that's inclusive, rooted in mindfulness, and dynamically relational. We aspire for each Hive experience to model these intentions, and even to refine them as we continue to learn how to gather in a way that's transformative! The embodiment of these intentions by Hive facilitators, Members, and class participants is what makes the Hive the unique and healing social container that many experience it to be. More About the Facilitators
Jacki Millay
Jacki Millay is a Qigong practitioner with a 200 hour certification course with the Institute of Integral Qigong and Tai Chi(IIQTC). After years of personal practice, Jacki realized she could ‘give back’ by teaching. Upon retiring from teaching in the Cincinnati Public School System she chose to explore more Qigong/Tai Chi teaching venues and opportunities. With her shift into embodied practice, an entirely new sense of the magic and mystery inherent in this life began.
