Description
Law of Three and the Enneagram
“Just as it takes three independent strands of hair to make a braid, so it takes three individual lines of force to make a new arising. Until this third force enters, the other two forces remain at an impasse. These three lines of action are free of moral judgment, and they are neither “good” nor “bad.” –Cynthia Bourgeault. The solution to a problem lies in the problem itself, but we can't see it.
Why?
We unconsciously become overly identified with our image, a desired outcome, a relationship dynamic, an affinity group or a position. When we’re “over-identified,” we polarize, feel confusion, and lose insight and clarity.
In Summer 2024 at The Hive, we explore the Law of Three as a practical tool for working with the polarizing forces inside ourselves, our relationships and in our culture. We look at this from the perspective of our Enneagram type and the cultural maps that shape our view of the world.
In this practice-based class, you will:
Learn how cultural trends/mental structures of meaning-making impact our over- identifications. Practice observing your orientation and drawing on more expansive ways of seeing.
Learn the Law of Three. Practice working with it as you face challenging decisions, issues or conundrums.
Learn what it feels like to be in 3 centers from the inside. Develop awareness and embodiment practices to cultivate Presence in all 3 centers. (The mental center and emotional center are where we’re most likely to get “hooked.”)
Learn your Enneagram-related paradoxes, polarities and passion fixations which create those intractable tug-of-wars within yourself and in relationships. Witness how and where you get “hooked” and practice returning to Self in all 3 centers.
This is both a learning and practice-based class and our core practice is The Pause. Class includes teaching, dyads, meditation, demonstration, panels and somatic awareness practice. This is not a beginner class.

Intention of the Hive
When you join a Hive experience, you're invited into our intention to create a group experience that's inclusive, rooted in mindfulness, and dynamically relational. We aspire for each Hive experience to model these intentions, and even to refine them as we continue to learn how to gather in a way that's transformative! The embodiment of these intentions by Hive facilitators, Members, and class participants is what makes the Hive the unique and healing social container that many experience it to be.
