The Hive chooses seasonal themes to create courageous conversations in our Hive community and beyond. This winter, we’re leaning into the practice of reflection.
“How good it is to center down!
To sit quietly and see one's self pass by!
The streets of our minds seethe with endless traffic;
Our spirits resound with clashings, with noisy silences, while something deep within hungers and thirsts for the still moment and the resting lull.”
- Howard Thurman
What does it look like to reflect and rest in the winter? The stillness of these cold months can be difficult for many of us, and yet within them are invitations to follow the rhythm of the earth and leave space for something to emerge.
Like trees whose systems slow down into dormancy, might we tap into a deeper quality of presence by choosing to reflect and rest this winter?
In the midst of capitalist habits that keep us moving at a frenetic pace, what wisdom might we find in waiting?
While “reflection” is often tied to contexts of individual practice, what does it look like to make space for the “still moment and resting lull” within a community?
This theme of Reflection will guide our conversation here at the Hive this winter. We invite you to join us by bringing these questions (and more that arise) to your mindfulness practices, circles of gathering, and encounters with friends, family, and strangers this winter season.
We’ll also be turning to a number of voices around the Hive community through blog posts and interviews.
Jump into a class or event this winter, follow us on Instagram and Facebook to stay in touch, and subscribe to our newsletter to stay up to date with how you can be a part of our conversations on reflection.
