This year, we're having 4 seasonal themes to create courageous conversations in our Hive community and beyond. This winter, we're talking about Appreciation. Below is the invitation to this seasonal theme.
What is this winter teaching you?
During the midwestern winter, the trees reveal their branches with sharp clarity- the structures that make their lives possible. And for many of us living in the third year of this pandemic, our lives have gotten simpler and lost the leaves they once had. This season can feel like a kind of "winter" in more ways than one.
What if still landscapes and the clarity of exposed trees could teach us something about "appreciation?"
To notice branches and landscapes that the busyness of life had once concealed; to slow down with the earth and savor interactions that your frenetic summer spirit once rushed through.
As the late poet John O'Donohue puts it, "You have traveled too fast over false ground; Now your soul has come to take you back."
This winter, we'll be practicing "appreciation." In the next couple months, you'll get to hear from Hive facilitators and wisdom figures as they share their practices of appreciation through Instagram interviews, blog posts, and more. Be sure to follow us on Instagram and Facebook to stay in touch!
