The Hive Cincinnati

The Hive exists to develop creative, compassionate, and mindfully-engaged citizens both online and in the Cincinnati region through small group classes, events and workshops.

The Hive cultivates mindfulness which manifests as creativity and intentional social engagement. We do this through retreats, events, classes, and one-on-one direction, which we offer to our neighbors in Northside, Cincinnati, the wider tri-state region, and now online. We also bring Pop Up Hive to your workplace and houses of faith.

Our hunch is that small groups make it easier to learn mindful and contemplative practices; whether that is art and poetry, meditation and prayer, yoga, or even community action. Not only easier, but more meaningful too!

Choosing Your Path

The 6 Domains

There are a lot of classes and circles held through the Hive. In fact, making the choice where to begin or go next can feel like a big choice. These domains, or groupings will help you see what you are attracted to, what you are avoiding, and what you want to work toward. It will help you as you plan out your year, and as you look back on your year to plan for the next.

There are 6 two-month sessions a year, so you can: choose a different domain every session, do a deep dive into one domain, or choose your own adventure.

Contemplative Practice

Contemplative practice will help you discover or strengthen practices in your life that help you develop inner quiet, be more present and connected to self, others, the universe, and the divine.

Body

Body classes help us be an integrated whole. We are a country and culture that focuses regularly on what you think, believe, or consume. This work reminds us to keep body-mind-spirit integrated, and to practice being fully present and listening to our body.

Creative Expression

Creative expression will help you discover new ways that your voice can enter the world through creative practices that help you listen to your intuitive self, uncover what inspires you, and bridge your inner work with the outside community.

Mapping Tools

Mapping tools courses will give you new tools or lenses through which to process your journey, life, and relationships. They might be new lenses like the Enneagram that help you understand your journey in new ways, or practical work like the Economics of Compassion to create new financial habits of intention.

Healing Work

Healing work includes trauma informed work, recovery, and health. All of the work, classes, and circles at the Hive can surface areas where we need to do deeper dives or work to heal. Classes in this area can help you do that work, or to be more informed about how to show up with others in a deeper understanding of their trauma and suffering.

Collective Action

Collective action helps to take our internal transformation and to extend that out into the world in the form of justice, movements, resistance, and community action. We believe that we can impact our world or our worlds, and that contemplation is a way to keep our external action and our internal work humming.
